2 Weeks To The Holidays: Create Bags for Each Event

2 Weeks To The Holidays: Create Bags for Each Event - This is the time of year when you always have something to deliver or bring with you to an event or meeting. BAGS are your best friend. | Organize 365

My house is being overrun by piles and piles of stuff.

I have piles of…

  • gifts I have bought
  • completed projects to deliver to clients
  • products to return
  • donations to make
  • holiday foods to bake
  • and work to do.

This is the time of year when you always have something to deliver or bring with you to an event or meeting. BAGS are your best friend.

NO, I did not say put everything in bags and hide it in your laundry room. I am a professional organizer, you know. I have been through hundreds of “bags” that were created when you:

  • cleaned out your car
  • got ready for company
  • were going to go through that pile of mail tomorrow…

No, these bags are for you to put in the car or on the way there so you don’t forget anything.

In the past, I have designated a bag or basket for each family event. This year, we have very few family gatherings, but I have LOTS of deliveries to make.

Paper bags with handles are great and come in many sizes. I choose to bag up items and then put as many as I can for the week in the car {unless it is too cold}.

I find laundry baskets are great to let you carry many bags at one time and not have them fall over in the trunk.

Here’s a TV segment I did last year about using bags to organize your holidays.

How do you remember what you will take to all of your many outings during the holidays?

I am an organized bag lover too! I use the utility totes from 31 to carry things to and from my kids’ school parties. I have one that is used to carry stuff into the party of the hour (I have three kids, with parties at staggered times, all on the same day). then I have Meijer reusable bags to store specifics for each party. That way, between parties I can just swap the class specific bag out. I also keep my thermos of water, coffee, and another thermos with a green smoothie for when I get hungry! finally, I pack yet another bag for my kindergartner so that she can have activities to do while I am helping at the other parties…whew, I better get packing, the parties are on Thursday!
