We are looking at high schools for our son. Either choice is 22 miles from home. That’s 44 miles round trip twice a day. 88 miles x 200 school days = 18,000 miles.
And guess how much time? 2-3 hours A DAY. 10-15 hours a week.
Guess what gas mileage my 2005 Honda Odyssey gets?… 17 miles to the gallon. Yeah, baby – forget tuition–there is going to be an oil rig in the Gulf named after me.
I have a friend who has been doing this drive for years – never did the math. She just doesn’t think that way. Ok, I know NO ONE thinks this way except me!
Thats A LOT of time! I and while there is very little multi-tasking you can do in a car… you can make phone calls! My goal is to now make ALL of my calls when I am IN the car.
I just print out anything that requires a call, highlight the number and put it in the car.
I got through a lot of calls on the way up to Columbus to speak at Ricart Automotive.
I’m keeping my car. It only has 120,000 miles. It will make it at least a few more years.
But Greg’s car is fleeced as Dave Ramsey says. Next fall we are going to buy used.
Hubby is always talking about his next car. So I think about this often.
I was SUPER excited to be asked to speak in Columbus, Ohio, about car organization at Ricart Automotive.
Which got me thinking about Greg’s next car. So I went online one night and read about used SUVs and gas mileage.
I looked up current cars for sale locally and got an idea of what we might be looking at.
I didn’t think much about going to Ricart. I mean a car dealership is a car dealership right?
This place was like its own little city with traffic lights….
You name it.
Which is all well and good…I mean it does take a while to buy a car. And when our tire needed to be replaced on our drive home from Florida, I was glad to find a dealership with food service.
I was not prepared for the Ricart photo booth.
You know I love photos and am making 17 albums in less than 17 weeks, but this photo book took the cake.
It is the only one in the USA. EVERY. SINGLE. used car is driven in, photographed, given a 360 degree video and driven out.
All the photographs are hand done – no computers!
Bummer – the Mercedes doesn’t get better gas mileage – well, I’ll keep looking.
Then the photos are loaded onto the Ricart website.
OMGoodness. This is AWESOME! The hardest part of buying a used car is driving around looking at inventory. What a luxurious experience to browse through the active used car lot and select a few cars we might want to buy.
Columbus, Ohio, is only 2 hours from our home. Definitely worth it to get the car we want SIGHT SEEN! When we get there!
The Ricart car dealership in Columbus, Ohio, is family owned and their whole staff is treated as a family. It truly was a nice experience spending the day with them. I am looking forward to a visit and car purchase next fall!
