Back to School preparations
I am amazed at how much time, energy and money went into getting the kids ready for school this year. From school supplies to prescriptions everything seemed to take a little longer and cost more than in the past.
Since my kids are 11 and 12, my task today is to make a series of checklists to keep us on track and out the door on time.
List One: Kids. I typed and laminated check lists for the kids to remind them of what they need to do each morning and night. The AM list is on one side and the PM on the other.
Then I made a master list for me. I read through this list every morning before we go to the bus stop. My kid’s school does not have a hot lunch program and is 30 minutes away. So a forgotten lunch has HUGE ramifications!
List Two: Mom. Next I made a HUGE list of all the things that I would love to accomplish in a perfect week. Everything from sending weekly team emails to laundry.
I printed this list on green paper to put with my calendar. MANY things do not get done each week, but the list keeps the things I want to focus on forefront in my mind.
I use this list as a starting place for making my daily To Do list each night.
Lisa Three: Groceries/ Household items. I still need to create this list. The last 2 weekends I have done some HUGE shopping trips stocking up on toiletries, cleaners, medicines, paper products, snacks, etc.
We were down to the bare bones in every cabinet. Now that we have stocked up, I want to recreate a list I used in the past. A quick run through this list once a month should keep our pantry and linen closets stocked and ready to go.
When I went back to work full time 2 years ago, hubby started doing our grocery shopping. Now that I am back home, we have split the role. He does the weekly dinner and lunches shopping and I do the more expensive bigger trips once a month for all the staples, toiletries, medicines, etc.
So how about you? Do you use checklists?
