I’ve been talking about health and fitness on the podcast a lot lately. In Episode 283, I shared my own wellness and weight loss journey. Then, in Episode 284, I had my Director of Operations, Kelly Leardon, on the show to discuss weight loss and developing healthy eating and wellness habits.
What each of those episodes had in common was Amanda Tress’ FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program, which Kelly and I both love. I’ve been following the program for the best part of a year and have seen amazing changes in both my physical and mental health.
I’ve never had so much energy and drive than I do right now!
So, I’m very excited that I got the chance to sit down with Amanda herself to discuss the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program and to share her story of how she became one of the most successful female entrepreneurs in the country.
Amanda is the founder of FASTer Way to Fat Loss, the premier virtual intermittent fasting fitness and nutrition program. She’s not only a fitness fanatic, but an inspiring business woman who’ve I’ve been following for years (her Instagram profile keeps me motivated!).
Before she launched FASTer Way to Fat Loss, Amanda spent years training people in the gym. She experimented with different nutrition strategies and, remarkably, her clients began to see an epic change.
She spent a lot of time fine-tuning the strategies until she came up with the best way to bring them together for optimal results. Since then, she’s worked with over 100,000 clients, helping them to achieve their health and fitness goals.
Helping others improve their health and wellness came very naturally to Amanda, who always says, “I didn’t choose the fitness industry, the fitness industry chose me.”
How To Work From Home
Many female entrepreneurs, including myself, began their journey by radically downsizing and organizing their lives. But when you work from home, there’s usually a lot going on and different pulls for our time and attention.
How can you be a full-time working mom who works from home?
Amanda was in a very similar position with young kids and she talked about hiring a nanny and what a huge help that was for her. The nanny would look after her kids so she could focus on the business.
But, her decision to have a nanny was often publicly criticized. She got the same, tired expressions we all know too well, and many people tried to shame her for having “someone else raise her kids,” which couldn’t be further from the truth.
Of course, this is ridiculous but there’s not much you can do to silence people’s opinions. You just have to stay focused and trust that you know what you’re doing. Amanda also has a personal chef and cleaner who help her and her husband maintain their home by giving her back the time to work on her business.
When is it the right time to hire people for your business?
In the beginning stages of your business, you probably thought that reaching the six-figure milestone would be your end goal. But, you’re wrong. Even when you make six figures, like a huge chunk of it goes to taxes. So, you set yourself a new goal. You want to make one million… or even more.
To help you get there, you need a team.
But, there’s a catch. It’s difficult to hire people inside of your business. First, you’ve got to be a pro at what you’re already doing. You’ve got to be a great teacher and manager. You need to monitor their progress and impart your mission, vision, and values.
Also, you have to accept the fact that you could spend a lot of time hiring and training a new team member only to have them leave in a few months. Now you’ve got to do it all over again.
Hiring a team isn’t easy, but if you want to get your business to the next level, it’s necessary. It takes a lot of energy and resources to find and hire the right people.
If you don’t want to hire a full-time team right now, you can dip your toes in and outsource some of your tasks to people outside the business. If you need help writing blog posts, for example, search for a freelance content writer to help you out.
Why do women put their health last on their to-do list?
So many women say that they want to improve their health and well being, but they never take the next step.
Amanda pointed out that as women, we tend to want to be all or nothing. We want super-fast results and we want to see the benefits sooner rather than later.
Amanda understands this better than anyone, which is why for the first week of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program, she tells her clients to focus on progress, not perfection. She encourages them to focus on daily victories.
So in the first four weeks, the program focuses on prep. Participants try intermittent fasting and begin to eliminate some processed foods from their diets. The reason for this is to help them develop a healthy habit that they can actually stick to.
On the first day, they skip breakfast. Immediately, they have a small win they can celebrate because they’ve skipped breakfast. It’s already becoming a new habit and it’s an easy one to form because it doesn’t take a lot of motivation to not eat.
There are so many great health benefits to intermittent fasting. First of all, it drops insulin levels in your blood, which facilitates fat burning. This also assists in reducing insulin resistance, helping to lower your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
