HOW TO RECYCLE OLD TVS, COMPUTERS & APPLIANCES

Donation is definitely on the top of my list for all of these electronics. We have been very lucky to find people who want our old television sets. But what do you do when no one wants your “stuff?” And how do you get some of these BIG bulky items out of here?

Junk King

Junk King is a great resource to pay to come and take all of these items away. They will come into your house, take the stuff away, recycle it, and all you have to do is write a check… easy, peasy.

That’s the way I went when we got rid of our trampoline!

TVs & Computers

If you don’t have someone who wants your old TV, you can recycle it at your local county recycling program. Click here for Butler County. In Butler County, Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity are the preferred recyclers.

Retailers have recycling programs, too. Not all locations take all items, so call ahead. Best Buy will also take old computers and TVs. Staples will take computers only in their recycling program.

We have all 4 of my old laptops… seriously.

Appliances

I am SO bummed! 3 years ago, we bought a gorgeous stand up freezer. It got zapped or something and doesn’t work anymore.

I dreeeaaad getting it up the basement stairs and gone.

Appliances

BUT!! I found out that our county has a freon appliance curbside recycling program for FREE. Who knew? All I have to do is call the number, get the freezer to the curb and they will come take it away!

Whew! What a relief!

If you are looking for a resource for more hard to donate / recycle items, the list at www.earth911.com is awesome.
